Because of the latest "shelter-in-place" restrictions put into place in Amarillo and Canyon, and subsequent instructions from the diocese, we will not have scheduled Confessions until further notice. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "Where the individual faithful find themselves in the painful impossibility of receiving sacramental absolution, it should be remembered that perfect contrition, coming from the love of God, beloved of all things, expressed by a sincere request for forgiveness, (that which the penitent is at present able to express) and accompanied by the firm resolution to have recourse, as soon as possible, to sacramental confession, obtains forgiveness of sins, even mortal ones" (cf. CCC, no. 1452).

In conjunction with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, special protocols for Masses have been put into place by Bishop Zurek until further notice. These protocols will be read before each of this weekend’s Masses. Some things to note before you come to Mass: • Please do not come to Mass or to any large gatherings of people if you are sick, elderly, have a compromised immune system or chronic illness. It is not wrong to miss Mass in these circumstances and in light of the current pandemic. • Please plan to avoid handshaking and close contact at the liturgies until further notice. • Feel free to spread out in the church if possible in order to put some distance between each other. • Come with clean hands and a plan to cover your mouth and nose if you need to cough or sneeze. • Please note that the parish staff and Ushers will be wiping down door handles and other surfaces between Masses. • Exercise thoughtfulness and courtesy, especially as we seek to do our own part to protect not only ourselves but others who might be more vulnerable. Lord, take care of your people, especially those who are sick and vulnerable as well as those health care workers and scientists who seek to cure and care for those struck by disease. Help us in this time of need to live cautiously but not fearfully, remembering your everlasting care for your people. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

After several discussions with those who run our Little Lambs Pre-K program as well as our parish Pastoral and Finance Councils, it has been decided to shutter Little Lambs after this spring. Due to a variety of circumstances, the program hasn't been able to maintain the numbers to make it financially viable. As we seek to meet the needs of the community, however, we hope to increase the numbers in our Parents Day Out program and continue to discern what else calls our faith family to address. We extend a special thanks to Little Lambs director Karen Wyatt and to Denise Meraz for the persevering spirit in serving those children and families in Little Lambs these past years.
