This summer, we will have three family movie nights, featuring classic movies in which the Catholic Church is prominently featured. Our first movie night will be this Wednesday, June 29 at 7 p.m. in the parish hall. We will be watching
The Bells of St. Mary's, a heart-warming film from 1945 about a young priest (Fr. Chuck O'Malley, played by Bing Crosby) who is assigned as pastor of a parish with a school that is in danger of closing. The school is staffed by a community of nuns, led by the strong-willed Sister Mary Benedict (played by Ingrid Bergman). Nominated for 8 Academy Awards (aka Oscars), including Best Picture, this film is one of the reasons Fr. Busch is a priest ... since his family watched it each year around Christmas, when it was on television.
If you have never seen it, or if it has been a long time since you've seen it, be sure to join us for a fun evening of family entertainment. Popcorn and drinks will be served!
